TMJ is an abbreviation for the temporomandibular joints that are in front of the ear on both sides of the jaw. TMJ disorders are referred to as TMD, where the “d” stands for “dysfunction.”
Symptoms of TMD include:
- Loss of hearing

- Discomfort when biting and chewing
- Pain, aching or tenderness in the jaw/face
- Shoulder and neck pain

- Grating, popping or clicking sounds in the jaw.
